Helsingborg, Sweden – 13 August 2026 – OptiSense Care AB today announces the publication of its international patent application covering the technology behind ZenSeat®, the company’s non-invasive solution designed to enable proactive monitoring of toileting patterns in elderly care.
The international patent application, published as WO 2026/162513 A1, represents an important milestone in OptiSense Care’s strategy to protect its technology and build a strong foundation for the international commercialisation of ZenSeat®.
ZenSeat® has been developed to address a significant challenge in elderly care: changes in toileting patterns can be difficult to identify, particularly among people living with dementia or cognitive impairment. Delayed detection of constipation can lead to unnecessary discomfort, medication errors and potentially serious health consequences.
Using non-invasive sensor technology, ZenSeat® provides caregivers with objective information about toileting patterns without the use of cameras and without requiring additional actions from the resident. The aim is to support earlier intervention while preserving dignity and reducing the burden on care staff.
